Shopping for premature baby clothing is not easy

The arrival of a baby is such a joyous occasion and something to certainly celebrate.

So, when twins arrive it’s double celebration time, right?

We got our first order for premature babies this week as a Tiny Feet customer placed an order for twin baby boys that had been born prematurely, only weighing 2lbs.

I was excited to go shopping to find some cute clothing and baby items, however finding a ‘prem’ baby clothing range was not as easy as i thought it would be, i was shocked that i had to visit a few places before finding a tiny baby range.

It must be so difficult for parents of premature babies as it is, they already have enough on their plate without having to worry where they’ll be able to locate clothes for their new babies from.

A bouquet of flowers can mean the world to some

Valentine’s Day must be a florists Christmas Day, they must dream of loved ones being spoilt with floral arrangements throughout the day.

To be fair i have never really been a fan of flowers.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about and where most of my friends and family go weak at the knees, when they have flowers delivered or bought for them, personally, i would rather have the money.

The anticipation of seeing the customer’s face light up when i presented them with their floral arrangements was heart warming.

One lady who told me she was 89years old was overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness of her family and got quite emotional. I found myself getting wrapped up in the moment and chatted with her for a short while. She gazed at her flowers and commented on the beauty of them, expressing her gratitude for such a beautiful arrangement.

The impact the beautiful bouquet of flowers had on this elderly lady in particular remained with me all day.

New baby gifts that spoil Mum is where it started

At the same time as being overjoyed about the arrival of the newborn baby, i was also very proud of my younger sister who had a 31 hour ordeal in order for us to meet the new addition to the family.

Wanting a gift for baby and also wanting to show my sister how much i cared i started looking around for a gift that would spoil both.

This was the first niece, grandchild and i wanted to spoil her, i also wanted to make sure that my sister got a little something too, after all she had done all the hard work.

Since joining the world of twitter I have been astounded by the response that the general public and businesses from around the world provide.

Connecting and engaging with literally thousands of people within minutes is something I will never take for granted. 

Running a small online service providing Mother and Baby Gift Hampers, i don't have large budgets that i can afford to use for advertising.

It never ceases to amaze me how many potential customers you can reach by simply posting a tweet, and receiving a retweet is like hitting the jackpot!

I have found some of the most genuine and helpful people through connecting on twitter, nothing ever seems to be too much to ask for.

Two interesting facts about newborn babies

Whilst ‘surfing the net’ today, I came across two very interesting facts:

1. Scientists in Norway videoed babies who were delivered onto their mother’s tummies, and found to their astonishment that if left to their own devices, the babies used their limbs in a slow but coordinated way to crawl up and reach the breast where they then latched on and fed unaided.

2. Psychologists in America found that even newborn babies have an elementary grasp of maths and physics. They can tell the difference between one, two, three and more objects, and can also add up and take away. They may not have an abstract concept of numbers, but your baby knows how many apples should remain if, for example, one is taken away, and he will express surprise if it is wrong.

Have you tried the wet wipe game

Tiny Feet Hampers not only supply Mother and Baby Hampers UK wide, they also run baby shower parties within East Yorkshire.

Generating several baby orientated games and activities to keep the mum to be and guests entertained is always a challenge, however it is one that I relish!

One of my all time favourite games is the ‘wet wipe’ game.

It’s simple to set up and so much fun to play. It’s different to the nappy contents game as you get the chance to taste and smell each content before making your guess.

Before the party I found six different products to use and generously smothered one side of the wet wipe with the chosen content.

These consisted of: peanut butter, marmite, curry sauce, soy sauce, coffee, French and English mustard, branston pickle etc.

Once the wet wipe contained one content I folded them and put them individually into small sandwich bags, naming them 1-6 on the front, ready to transport to the party.

Each guest gets an answer sheet and a cotton bud, they can choose to roll the cotton bud in the contents and either smell or taste the contents of the wet wipe.

The guess is written down and contents are revealed once the last person has made their last guess.

Everyone can join in the fun and it’s certainly cost effective.
